It Was Bound to Happen!

We knew it was bound to happen, people! We knew it was only a matter of time. I FINALLY got a job! Wahoo!!!! And not just any job mind you, the dream job! That’s right, my awesome and mighty God has once again proven his un-measurable love by not only meeting my needs, but by also fulfilling so many little wants and desires as well! And what might you ask is this dream job? It’s a position as a live-in Inn-keeper for a Bed & Breakfast in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains! I cannot begin to explain what an incredible opportunity this is. So I thought I would share a little about the awesome way in which God made it all happen.

As this whole thing began to unfold a mere three days ago, all I could think about was our BSF bible study from three weeks ago. I’ve shared in previous post how God has used the book of Isaiah and BSF to not only comfort and uphold me through this whole unemployment thing, but the incredible lessons I have learned along the way. And even though each week is amazing and life changing, every once in a while there’s a little something extra that God seems to highlight. And that’s what happened three weeks ago. We were in the part of Isaiah where the Israelites are nearing the end of the Babylonian captivity after 70 yrs. The children of God begin to cry out asking Him if He’s forgotten them or possibly even divorced them. And God answers them by reminding them that He is the almighty, all powerful God who made this world.  Then He points out that it would only take one word from His mouth to instantly change everything.  Wow! Just one word! This is exactly what my life feels like right now! God spoke and my whole life is changing.
It started with a phone call from a friend on Thursday night. She lives in that area and heard about this little B&B that was in desperate need of a live-in Inn-keeper. So you better believe first thing Friday morning I was on the phone talking to the owners. Then after a good chat on the phone I emailed a copy of my resume. And next thing you know I’m on the road driving two and half hours for an overnight stay and interview. Everything was happening so fast! Thursday morning starts with me filling out yet another unemployment claim and by Saturday night I’m thinking about what I’m going to move up there, what’s going in storage, what I’m going to sell and how fast I can make this all happen! Crazy! And then as always happens when God brings you through these things you begin to look back at how He was preparing the way the whole time! Crazy things like issues with the front office had kept us from signing 12 month lease (I have to thank my roomy Liz for that one!). Needless to say there’s a whole list of things that I didn’t really understand before that now make sense.
Okay so know that I’ve already written a book today, let me tell you a little more about the Inn and the job. It’s in a little itty bitty town called Camino that is just east of Placerville and a little west of South Lake Tahoe. The area is not only beautiful but chalked full of things to do and explore.
It’s called the Camino Hotel Bed & Breakfast Inn (Website needs some work). The owners took it over about a year and half ago and did a good bit of restoration and repairs before the re-opened almost a year ago. Right now business is pretty slow with only a couple of reservations a month. And other than a lady that comes in once a week for housekeeping – I’m it! I’ll handle reservations, cooking, cleaning and all of the day to day of running a B&B. To begin with my main objective will be marketing and increasing business (and this, to me, is one of the most exciting aspects!). The salary is pretty small but includes a two bedroom two bath apartment and a great bonus incentive for every room I’m able to book. There is sooooo much potential – not only for the Inn but for me personally as well.
The only down side to the whole thing is the moving part. Having to once again leave my church family and everything that’s become familiar is a heart wrenching thought. Especially all of my Jr. High STUFF kids! I don't think hard even covers it! But I am only two and half hours away so visits shouldn’t be too hard. And it’s a B&B for goodness sakes! I better have a steady flow of visitors! And that means YOU!!!!
So if the posts are a little sparse and slow in coming over the next month I do hope you will understand! But once I get moved and settled in, I should have more than enough to write about to keep everyone happy and reading!
What and awesome God we serve! He loves us and cares for us better than we could ever hope for! I love Him so.

  3. Amber,
I'm very happy for you!!! It sounds so fun and I think you're perfect for the job. I have a friend that lives in Camino and she really likes it.
I hope we can visit sometime and check it out.
    Congratulations and God bless.
